Winter Sport Climbing In Ontario!

In All, Devil's Glen by Ontario Rock Climbing

2015 proved to be one of the warmest winters (to start) in Ontario.  No snow was in sight, and in fact, Blue Mountain ski resort in Collingwood had to re-open their summer activities for the winter holidays.  However, this was GREAT news for climbers as it created the longest climbing season in recent memory.

We were able to climb in Lion’s Head all the way to October, while the Beaver Valley area was good right up to Christmas Eve!  Weather in the plus double digits in December meant we were able to get out to Devil’s Glen plenty.  All the walls face\ south, so it gets really good sun exposure.  Even on a day with 8 degree weather, if you get sun, climbing is enjoyable there.

Unfortunately, on this day, we didn’t get sun, but the air temperature was around 12 degrees.  We toughed it out and got a few sends in!
